It was a happy Australia Day in Katowice as Renegades and Grayhound Gaming waltzed into the Katowice Major.
Renegades secured their place yesterday by winning the Asian Minor. Fellow countrymen Grayhound joined them by beating ViCi in the lower bracket final.
Grayhound’s Liam “malta” Schembri singled out in-game-leader Chris “dexter”‘ Nong for praise. He tweeted: “On a serious note, so proud of the effort every single member of this team put in to get the W today, none more than @dextersjourney, dude puts his all in every day.”
NRG Esports overcame their demons and won the Americas Minor with ease to qualify for their first Major. Runners-up FURIA Esports will join them and will represent Brazil alongside MIBR.
The third-placed teams will enter the last chance playoff tomorrow, starting at 11 AM GMT, with the top two teams qualifying for the Major. Entering this playoff are North, ViCi Gaming, Winstrike Team and Team Envy.
