Entry Requirements - All players must have an EsportsScotland account, Battlefy account. Players must be above 13 years in age and live in the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland.

Team Rules

Teams can be between 4-8 players and will locked in for the season. You may not add anyone to your roster after the season starts. At least 4 players must be a resident in the UK or Ireland. Additional players from Europe are allowed.

During a tournament, up to 6 players can participate in the tournament (team of 4, 2 subs). 4 players must take part throughout each tournament set. Substitutions must happen between sets.

Ranking Points;

1 entrant – 10 points

2 entrants – 25 points (20,5)

3-4 entrants – 50 points (30,10,5,5) + each team gets 10 points)

5-8 entrants – 100 points (50.30,10,10) + each team gets 10 points)

8-16 entrants – 200 points (100,50,25,25) + each team gets 10 points)

17-32 entrants – 500 points (250,120,40,40) + each team gets 20 points)

32-64 entrants - 1000 points (500,250,125,125) + each team gets 20 points)

1 Teams & team management

1.1 Teams are made up of a minimum 4 players.

1.2 Teams may have up to 8 players registered.

1.3 Substitutes may be made at the end of each game with a maximum of 2 substitutions per match.

1.4 Teams must nominate a captain who is responsible for whole team being in lobby at least 20 minutes before match start.

1.5 If a team can not produce 4 members for 10 minutes before match start then they will lose by default and the win will go to the opposing team.

1.6 Teams must have a name and logo that is agreed upon by Esports Scotland management and may not contain any offensive words or pictures (“offensive” to be determined by Esports Scotland management) and may not be too similar to any Pro teams.

1.7 As matches will be played on Nintendo Switch you will be required to have a Gamertag that is not offensive and your Nintendo Switch account must be in good standing

1.8 All participants must be at least 13 years old to enter SEL Season 1 Splatoon 2

1.9 All team captains must report match results to Esports Scotland management, any disputes about results will be settled by Esports Scotland management and those decisions are final.

2 Match format

2.1 There is up to 16 teams and will be played as single elimination. If there are 5 or less teams, tournament will be run as round robin. All sets will be best of 5.

2.1a Stages in round robin will change between round as if advancing through a single elimination bracket.

2.1b Tiebreaker situations in round robins will be decided by 1 game of Splat Zones

2.2 Game 1 will be Splat Zones. In Splat Zones teams must attempt to gain control of fixed objective areas on the map and hold it until the round time is complete or the control counter reaches 0.

  • Starfish Mainstage (Round of 16)
  • New Albacore Hotel (Round of 8)
  • MakoMart (Round of 4)
  • Kelp Dome (Finals)

2.3 Game 2 will be Tower Control. In Tower Control both teams must attempt to control the tower and move it to the opponent’s side of the map. The team who moved it the furthest by the end of the round or whoever takes the tower all the way to the opponent’s end zone wins.

2.4 Game 3 will be Rainmaker. In Rainmaker teams must attempt to gain control of the rainmaker and carry it to the opponent’s side of the map. The team who moved it the furthest by the end of the round or whoever takes the rainmaker all the way to the opponent’s end zone wins.

2.5 Game 4 (if required) will be Clam Blitz. In Clam Blitz players pick up clams, which are scattered around the stage, and deposit them into the goal near the opposing team's base. Once a player picks up ten clams, it transforms into a power clam, which is used to destroy the barrier around the other team's goal when thrown towards it.

2.6 Game 5 (if required) will be Turf War. In Turf War both teams must attempt to cover as much of the map in their team’s ink as possible. The team who has covered the highest percentage of the map wins.

  • Arowana Mall (Round of 4)
  • Kelp Dome (Finals)

2.7 All settings will be standard Competitive rules unless otherwise stated. Make sure lobby settings have 'No Secondary Abilities' on Off!

2.8 The host will be one of the team captains chosen by an Esports Scotland admin and will be responsible for setting up the room to the correct settings.

2.8a Team captains and admins may request a test match before a set begins to test for any internet connection problems between the teams. This will be played on Turf War with basic gear and Splattershot Jr. 1 test match per set.

2.9 If a player on a team disconnects within the first minute, all other members of that team should immediately stop playing, with the disconnect being reported to both management and the other team immediately. A screenshot of the disconnected player must be provided by the team in each instance. After this point, the game will continue without disconnected players. 1 disconnect is allowed per tournament set.

2.10 Any disputes will be settled by Esports Scotland management and all decisions are final.

3  Game lobby and set up

3.1 Esports Scotland management will determine a host from a team to create a private game and who is responsible for sending invites to the members of both teams.

3.2 Esports Scotland management may use spectate mode to monitor the game for both admin and streaming purposes. No other spectators allowed unless determined by Esports Scotland management.

3.3 Any cheating will be punished by the entire team being disqualified. “Cheating” includes but is not limited to using in game exploits or bugs to gain an advantage.

3.4 Teams must not engage in “soft play”. Soft play is defined as teams or team members communicating with the opposing team to predetermine the match results. This will result in both teams being disqualified.

3.5 Matches will be streamed on www.twitch.com/esportsscotland by Esports Scotland management.

3.6 If any team members wish to stream the matches then they must ask permission from Esports Scotland management and there streaming account must be in good standing.

3.7 All decisions by Esports Scotland management are final.

3.8 Due to ping issues, all teams must contain at least 4 players from the UK and Ireland. Other players must be located in Europe.

4 Prizes

4.1 Prizes to be determined.

4.2 Esports Scotland reserves the right to change or withdraw the prizes at any time.

4.3 The captain of the winning team is responsible for the distribution of prizes amongst team members
